ᐅ Ikea CORRAS in beech wood... I have a quick question about it.

spumaHi!
I have two TV stands with casters here at home!!!
From my research, they seem to be the IKEA CORRAS model in beech wood!
Since the color no longer really matches my other furniture (we used both as bedside tables),
here is my question:
Is it possible to paint or varnish these? Has anyone here tried that before?
Or would it be better to sell them and get something new?
Best regards,
Marion

so I’ll try to contribute a solution to your problem, even though I’m not a painter or decorator.
Whether and how you can paint the tables depends, as far as I know, mainly on the surface type. If they have a real wood veneer, you could try it; with a coated surface, it’s less likely to work. The tables would first need to be sanded, then primed. After priming, sand again and then apply one or more coats of paint in the desired color, sanding between each coat. If it’s a plastic surface, you might try applying a plastic primer (I believe that’s what it’s called) first and then paint over it, but whether the paint will hold is more a matter of luck.
If you ask me honestly, I wouldn’t do it, mainly because the materials (primer, paint, etc.) aren’t exactly cheap, and it’s a lot of work for a possibly doubtful result. I have painted several IKEA furniture pieces myself, and honestly, I was never completely satisfied with the result. I used a roller, and although I didn’t get drips, runs, or similar, and always sanded properly, the surface never looked like the original factory finish, even when sanding very finely after the last coat. I think you would have to try an airbrush. But as I said: I’m not a professional painter—these are just my experiences.
I hope this helps a little!
