However, our country is not very large, and sometimes kitchens are very small where every centimeter (inch) counts. So, I couldn’t install the corner cabinet with the recommended spacing. With the door and the corner cabinet fittings, everything still worked fine, but when I replaced the corner pull-out mechanism with drawers, I had to come up with a solution.
Problem:
Solution:
I attached a board to the drawer, into which I installed two ball-bearing slides. I then attached the front panel to these. This way, the front can now be slid to the side:
Since ball-bearing slides are not designed to withstand forces perpendicular to their direction of movement, I also installed a guide for stabilization. This consists of an aluminum angle profile and a U-profile, into which I mounted ball bearings.
With little effort, this pull-out solution allows for an efficient use of space at a low cost.

IKEA-Freund13 Sep 2013 14:47Very nicely solved. The next step would be a guide system that forces the front panel to move sideways as soon as the extension is pulled out a bit...

IKEA-Experte13 Sep 2013 19:39Thanks to both of you. I originally planned a track system (that's the term I just learned ), but then decided against it because this way I can slide the front to the side as far as needed.
Otherwise, it might be worth mentioning that if you only install two standard pull-out cabinets, it would be easier to choose a 50cm (20 inch) cabinet instead of a 60cm (24 inch) one. However, with METOD there are only 40cm (16 inch) and 60cm (24 inch) base cabinets available, so that would result in a significant loss of space.
