Hello everyone,

We are planning to renovate the entire bedroom. The wardrobe system will definitely be the Pax system.
Now, the bed should be a good one as it will be our first bedroom. We want to go with a box spring bed.

Can anyone share their experience with this?

Hello everyone,......

Hello!
We are now going to completely renovate the bedroom,.. The wardrobe system will definitely be the Pax system 😀 .

That’s exactly how it looks for us at the moment.... 😎
Now the bed should be something good for our first bedroom,.... it will be a box spring bed.
Can anyone share their experience with this? 😉

We are also planning to get a box spring bed. We have been researching different construction principles for about two months now. There is no information at all about the box (Sultan Atlöy), regarding the quantity and quality of the Bonnell springs (wire thickness, coating). By the way, the Bonnell spring system is the simplest and not necessarily very durable over the long term!

For the mattresses, I see pocket spring mattresses recommended for box springs. But even the most expensive has only 187 springs per square meter. For decent box springs, at least 250 springs per square meter are generally recommended. Really good ones have significantly more springs per square meter.

On "schlafen-aktuell.de" you can find a forum section about box spring beds, and there is also the site "boxspringbetten-tipps.de" with many explanations about the basic construction, etc.

Best regards

Thanks.....

I sent an email to Ikea just for info.... let’s see what comes back 😀

What do you think? When I add it all up, it comes to almost €3000 (around $3200), so that’s the bed and wardrobe.

I think this is quite a step up from the normal mattress we have (some kind of one from Schlaraffia or whatever it’s called exactly).

We’re both only 32, and this bed already feels like a luxury, right? At 50, you can buy the really great ones—you need them more by then and, above all, you have the money.

By the way, you’ve got a PM.

You're welcome!
I sent an email to Ikea for information… let’s see what comes of it

I’m heading to Ikea Dortmund soon to ask about it...
I need to continue planning our cabinets, including the options for custom internal modifications. Unfortunately, not everything is available in the planner.
What do you think! When I add it all up, it’s almost 3000€ for the bed and wardrobe.
I think that’s quite a jump compared to the usual mattress we have (some kind of Schlaraffia or whatever it’s called).

Ah, you’re still so young...
We are considerably older by now...

But seriously, I consider buying a bed one of the most difficult decisions because the information and advice are pretty poor. A very good friend of ours is an orthopedic doctor who explains that many pain issues or injuries are caused by the wrong mattresses and/or bed bases.
Box spring beds are currently very popular. Various manufacturers and sellers are jumping on the bandwagon and sometimes hide flaws with design or questionable constructions.
By the way, on WDR TV’s program Haushaltsscheck, there is a feature about "the right mattress." At least the advice from the expert there on what to pay attention to when testing a bed is very helpful!
In the meantime, we visited nearly 10 mattress stores and furniture outlets to look at box spring beds. For those options where the advice could be considered “good,” prices start at about 2700 euros.
If you’re well informed, you might find a bargain at luxusbett.de, an online retailer from the Netherlands. But, as I said, you probably need to be almost a “bed expert” yourself to avoid a bad purchase. We are likely going to drive to the Netherlands next week.

Today I tried to get information about the box spring bed frame at Ikea. Unfortunately, there was nothing available about the exact construction. Even looking at it in person did not convince me. Personally, I would absolutely not consider this product.

I received an email today with actually useful data.

The substructure has a total of 384 springs (2x8x24=384), which means: 106.6 springs per square meter installed.

What do you think about that now?
