Hello,

does anyone know the maximum load capacity in kilograms of the IKEA Bjursta wall-mounted fold-down tables? I am specifically referring to the Bjursta table itself, not the load capacity of the wall.

Thanks for your valuable experience.

Hi,

I have the NORBO in my kitchen and have already had 20kg (44 lbs) on top of it without any issues. And I believe the NORBO is not as stable as the BJURSTA.
Additionally, I have also leaned on it, which likely applied even more load.
So you can definitely put quite a bit on it without having to worry (assuming proper wall mounting).

Hello!

Thank you very much, dear alsk1, that already helps me a lot!

Could you also tell me how far the support extends when the table is unfolded, meaning how far forward it reaches? I estimate or rather fear it might be about 7 cm (3 inches), since the shelf surface is supposed to be 14.5 cm (6 inches) deep, and the assembly instructions look like the support is roughly half that size. If so, I will need to rethink the plan. A section of the gas connection pipe is supposed to be hidden under the table. It is about 5 cm (2 inches) away from the wall. I have already tried calling Ikea, but I can’t get through. I also can’t visit a store to take measurements for now.

Unfortunately, I don’t understand your question. What do you mean by how deep the support is? The support goes almost up to the front edge of the tabletop, so much more than 7cm (3 inches)...

It has to be that way; otherwise, the tabletop would be hanging in the air.

I also don’t understand your measurement of 14.5cm (6 inches). What do you mean by that? The storage surface for the Norbo is 79x59cm (31x23 inches), which is the full size of the tabletop.

Hi, I have now looked at the NORBO, which has a completely different design compared to the BJURSTA. Now I understand that you don’t know what I mean.

Black rectangular tabletop with central metal leg and side brackets.

What I mean regarding the BJURSTA is the vertical bar—the one mounted on the wall, not the one under the tabletop. I want to fix the support bar on the wall behind a pipe that should then be hidden. That’s why I need to know how much space the support bar takes up. The pipe is 6 cm (2.4 inches) from the wall (not 5, that was a typo), so the bar must take up no more than about 5.8 cm (2.3 inches).

The shelf that remains horizontal when the table is folded is said to be 14.5 cm (5.7 inches) deep. I don’t quite understand this either, because the measurements say “at least 10 cm” (4 inches) depth, so I would have guessed 10 cm (4 inches).

Sorry, I can’t help you with that. But I still don’t quite understand what exactly you want to do with the pipe... How do you plan to drill behind an existing pipe with 6cm (2.5 inches) of clearance to the wall? And how is that supposed to work at all? In my opinion, that’s not possible. You should probably discard this idea and look for an alternative.
