Hi,
I bought the Birkeland chest of drawers for our holiday home in Bordeaux in spring. It has three wide drawers and three smaller ones at the top.
After a few months, the top drawers have sagged, and the middle one won’t close at all. From what I can see, the front upper crossbeam, which the drawer sides rest on, is too weak, causing the drawers to sag. The drawers only contain socks, so there’s no heavy weight inside.

The picture shows the problem...
Can anyone give me some advice on what I can do?
Asking at IKEA Bordeaux is difficult because of the language barrier, and they are currently undergoing renovations anyway.

IKEA-Experte8 Nov 2012 15:21-Actually, it can’t be due to the crossbar, since according to the assembly instructions, the sides where the rails for the small drawers are mounted are only attached to the top panel. If the crossbar were sagging, the sides would no longer rest on the bar.
Therefore, it’s more likely that the top panel is no longer straight. Check this with a long spirit level or something similar.
Was there perhaps something heavy placed on the dresser?

It's me again,
I’ve understood the issue with the screws and tried it right away. Now at least the middle drawer works, but just barely and it’s rubbing.
The top panel is actually sagging, almost 2mm (0.08 inches). There weren’t any heavy items on it, just 2 picture frames, a small floor lamp, and some miscellaneous stuff.
So the problem is identified. Do you have any advice on how I can straighten the top panel again?
Thanks for your help

Or if the receipt is no longer available:
Remove the lid, place it on a flat surface with the painted side facing down, place a weight (about 10-20 kg (22-44 lbs)) in the center, and wait.
