Hello community,

In the new living room, I want to mount a 180cm (71 inches) TV stand on the wall. According to the instructions, no wall rail is needed—just 4 screws are supposed to hold the whole thing. I have to buy the screws and wall plugs myself. What kind should I use?
I’m not quite sure if this setup will actually hold! Has anyone here installed it exactly as described in the instructions?
Maybe it would be smarter to use two 120cm (47 inches) cabinets and secure them with a wall rail.
Is it absolutely necessary to mount the TV to the wall as well, or can it simply stand on the cabinets?

It would be great to get some feedback.

Best regards,
Fabian

Hello,

the mounting of the 180 cm (71 inch) TV stand is more stable than the others with a wall rail. Otherwise, the information on the IKEA page should be noted: "The TV stand can support a maximum load of 50 kg (110 lbs) on the top surface.
When mounted on the wall, the maximum load capacity of the TV stand depends on the wall material."
With a load of 50 kg (110 lbs), quite a lot of force is already applied to the anchors and screws. I would feel more comfortable if the TV is mounted on the wall.

I am fairly certain that the maximum load rating only applies when the piece of furniture is placed on the floor (and not when mounted on the wall). The question is what Ikea means by "placed on the floor."

This certainly applies when the furniture is used with the supplied feet (the round plastic glides). However, it is unclear whether "placed on the floor" still applies when Nannarp legs including support leg(s) or other legs including support leg(s) are used.

For wall mounting, the maximum stated load capacity does not apply.
