Hello Ikea fans,

I’m really at my wit’s end right now…!!!

After successfully assembling the Besta storage bench, we just can’t manage to properly install the Inreda full-extension drawers with the Besta Tofta drawer front. I’ve spent the entire morning trying different approaches over and over again, but nothing fits. I can’t install the drawer front so that it aligns with the bottom edge of the cabinet. Either it protrudes below or the bottom frame is visible. On top of that, the shelves don’t line up with the drawer either. Could it be that I have the wrong parts, or am I just too clueless???

Please, please help me before I throw myself—or the storage bench with drawers—out the window.

Best regards from a desperate and frustrated Marijo

A few photos and more detailed information (Besta with which height, 16 or 26 cm (6 or 10 inches) Inreda) could help with solving the problem.

Hello Marijo,

I’ve just assembled the same cabinet with full-extension drawers.
My son installed the front panel the wrong way around. The slots on the front should face downward (this is probably designed for drawers with thin bottoms, and this always happens to us at least once since our IKEA furniture usually needs to be assembled twice).
At the bottom, the Töfta front lines up flush, and the shelf that divides the whole unit is visible to us (we keep the receiver and Xbox on it). However, you can also position the shelves one hole lower, which makes the front panel stick out slightly. I didn’t really like that, but it’s a matter of taste. I also think the shelf should be visible since it’s a "shelf compartment."
It’s a bit annoying that if you stand directly in front, you can look into the drawer.
For organization enthusiasts like me, that’s a real drawback—no more just tossing stuff into the drawer and hiding it, haha...

Best regards,
Andrea

Hello Andrea,

Are your shelves flush with the front of the cabinet? It sounds to me like you might have placed them on the standard brackets, which leaves a gap at the front. We made the same mistake at first and only later discovered the special brackets that pull the shelf forward, so the shelves are flush with the cabinet front.

We tried fitting the cover panels both ways, but they never align flush with the underside of the cabinet. If I have time later, I’ll upload some pictures.

Best regards,
Marijo

I have uploaded a few pictures and hope you can see them!? I’m not very familiar with the platform, and it’s also not easy to handle from my phone. It would be great if someone could quickly confirm whether you have access to the pictures!

THANK YOU

The pictures can be seen. It would have been helpful to have an additional photo of the rails with the drawer removed.
This overhang is a bit unusual. It’s not much, but probably too much to compensate for with the adjustment nuts. Measure the distances between the holes again. When measured from the underside of the carcass, all holes should have a distance that is an exact multiple of 32 mm (1.26 inches).
