Hello everyone,

I’m quite new to IKEA and also new to this forum.

I’m planning to buy the Besta shelf measuring 60cm (24 inches) x 40cm (16 inches) x 128cm (50 inches) and the Besta Vara door in 60cm (24 inches) x 38cm (15 inches) to cover the lower section. However, I noticed that the Besta shelves are slightly “too short,” meaning they don’t align flush with the front of the cabinet frame. I know there are special brackets for the door that can move the shelf forward, but wouldn’t that leave a gap at the back? Or is there a cover panel for that? 😕 I really wouldn’t like a gap, plus dust would collect inside.

I’m also curious whether the shelf is the right height to align flush with the door at the top— or does it only fit if installed either too low or too high?

I would really appreciate your experiences and advice.

You can only choose a gap at the front or the back. As far as I know, there is no cover strip available, so you will need to be creative. Alternatively, you could have a custom floor made. It only becomes difficult when making cutouts for the floor supports.

OK, thanks for the information. Somehow, none of this really convinces me—especially since solutions that you can’t simply buy at IKEA exceed my DIY skills 😳
