Hello everyone, I recently bought an IKEA Besta sideboard and now want to replace the existing handles with new ones. My question is: What is the best way to attach these new handles to the fronts myself? I have already noticed that the Besta fronts have pre-drilled holes, but I’m unsure if I can simply screw on the new handles or if there is something else I need to consider, such as drilling or screw length. I would also like to know if any special tools are required or if a simple screwdriver is sufficient. I would appreciate any tips on preparation and aligning the handles so that everything fits neatly and securely. Thanks in advance for your help!

Depending on the type of handle and screws, a cordless drill with low speed can help to avoid damage to the wood.
If new holes are required, a drill with a small bit (approximately 3-4mm (0.1-0.16 inches) diameter) is useful, but be careful to avoid misdrilling.
Thanks for the helpful information so far! Regarding screw length: Can anyone recommend how to determine the correct length when buying new handles with different spindle thicknesses? Is it enough to simply measure the thickness of the front panel with a ruler and add 5 mm (0.2 inches) for the screw? Or is there another, more reliable method?
And one more question: Is it really advisable to remove the front panel, or can this be done directly on the furniture? I’m concerned that holding it might easily damage the front panels.
