Hello everyone, I have been experiencing an issue for some time now with my Ikea Besta shelving unit where the drawers have become increasingly loose. More precisely, they can still be pulled out, but they noticeably move sideways and feel unstable, which makes opening them more difficult and raises concerns about their long-term durability. The drawers are mounted with the usual metal quick connectors and, as far as I can tell, have plastic runners with metal ball bearings. I suspect that either the drawer slides have developed play or the mounting has loosened somewhat. Before I dismantle all the drawers, I wanted to ask here if anyone has experience or practical repair tips: What is the best way to fix the wobbly drawers on an Ikea Besta so that they sit firmly and open smoothly again? Are there proven methods or replacement parts specifically suited for the sliding components? Thank you in advance for any help!

- Check the screws on the metal brackets that connect the cabinet frame and the drawers; loose screws often cause lateral play. Thanks for the tip, I will check that right away. By metal brackets, do you mean the support brackets mounted on the sides inside the cabinet frame that hold the drawer slides? If so, can these simply be tightened without affecting the alignment? I would prefer not to risk causing more damage by adjusting them.

- If mechanical defects are found on the drawer slides, the individual slide components can be ordered separately from Ikea as replacement parts – they are designed to be quite modular. That’s interesting, I wasn’t sure whether replacement parts for this model were available individually. Has anyone here had experience ordering these specific guides or rollers?
Regarding tightening the screws on the mounting brackets, it should be noted that the Ikea Besta system is designed so that gently retightening the screws does not affect the alignment, as long as this is done evenly and carefully.
Concerning replacement parts: Ikea actually offers individual drawer runners, rollers, and small plastic components that fit the BESTA system. It is advisable to request the original part numbers directly from Ikea or check the packaging to ensure you purchase the exact matching parts.
If there are rollers or drawer slides with bent metal parts, replacing them is more effective than temporary repairs. Investing in replacement parts ensures long-term stability.
