Hello everyone, I plan to replace the drawer fronts of my IKEA Besta cabinet to achieve a more modern look. My specific question is: How exactly do I remove the old fronts without damaging the drawers themselves or the internal mechanisms? I am also interested in whether there are certain materials or dimensions I should consider when purchasing new fronts to ensure they fit and can be installed without issues. Who has experience with this and can provide tips on dismantling, accurate measuring, and suitable replacement parts? Thank you in advance!

That’s correct, although the fastening mechanism varies slightly depending on the year of manufacture and model.

To be honest, I wonder why IKEA doesn’t offer a standardized system that remains compatible over time. Instead, you have to figure it out and ask questions every single time.
One might almost suspect it’s intentional, to encourage customers to buy entire new furniture sets instead of just replacing the fronts.

But back to the topic: If you don’t want to rely on those clip systems, it’s better to replace the fronts with completely new panels that are cut and drilled — this way you have full design freedom and don’t have to wait for IKEA’s standard dimensions.
