I am planning to get the Besta/Framsta TV combination with the glass panels. Unfortunately, the glass panels are safety glass, which means you cannot cut holes for cables in them. Has anyone solved this problem? Is it possible to saw or file down the aluminum rails of the Framsta elements so that the cables can pass through?
Regards,
Sven

I’m facing the same issue and came up with a solution: cutting a connecting rail between two panel elements twice and removing the middle piece (about 10–15cm (4–6 inches) wide). This creates a gap between two glass panels where almost any type of cable should fit. The overall structure should still be stable since it’s screwed to the pipe elements on the sides.
However, the cables need to be installed before the final assembly because most connectors probably won’t fit through this gap later on.
I’m planning to try this out by mid-March. I’ll report back to let you know if the theory works in practice.
I’m also curious if Ikea might offer an alternative solution, hopefully before I assemble everything.
