mgrille814 Feb 2012 23:44Hello everyone,
it's me again.
Today I went to IKEA and bought integral door dampers (just one pack to test first). I actually wanted to install the dampers in the living room wall unit. I tested them on a small dresser I’ve already assembled. Unfortunately, they don’t fit.
Do the integral hinges fit into the Besta cabinets?
If yes: Is it enough to have just one hinge with a damper, and will it work together with the Besta hinge?
So many questions.
Maybe you can help me out.

I can’t tell you if the Ebay hinges will fit, but the dimensions are provided—just measure and check! Yes, that’s what I plan to do when I pick up the parts next weekend.
I thought maybe someone already has experience and I could, for example, take integral hinges with me if they happen to fit the Besta cabinets.

IKEA-Experte5 Feb 2012 15:19I think (but I’m not completely sure) that the hinge straps with the integrated damper will fit. They are almost the same as the integral hinges, except the screw holes are smaller and the dampers are already built in. Overall, they are cheaper than buying hinges with an additional attached damper.
You can’t use the integral hinges as they are because the cross mounting plate doesn’t fit. For Besta from Blum, you need the clip top mounting plates 173S6100 or 173H7100.
The eBay seller doesn’t offer the mounting plates, nor the hinge and top covers. By the way, the clip-on dampers (973A0500) are cheaper there than at IKEA.

mgrille817 Feb 2012 10:51Hello,
first of all, thank you very much for your answers and tips.
I didn’t actually want to replace all the hinges.
I would prefer a solution where you only have to clip something on or screw it on.
That would be quick and not very complicated.
During my research, I also found something else, but I’m not sure if it fits.
For that, the hole spacing of the cross plates would need to be known. However, I don’t know it and can’t measure it right now.
Maybe you can help me with this.
Thank you

IKEA-Experte7 Feb 2012 16:47This item (Hettich 0060581) is specifically designed for Intermat hinge bands. It might work, or it might not. The hinges on BESTA are from Lama. For those, there are Glissando TS or BL dampers available. Whether these also fit the hinges made for IKEA is uncertain. It could also be difficult to obtain these dampers at all.
