Hello,

we retired our 10-year-old Ikea bed (similar to FJELLSE) because it was making loud creaking noises. The dimensions were 180x200cm (71x79 inches). We decided to go for the Malm low bed, also in 180x200cm (71x79 inches).

What we noticed is that the support plugs that fit into these holes used to be made of metal but are now made of plastic!

We reused the spring slatted frame SULTAN MANE, and we were surprised that the creaking is now even louder than before!

So, the assumption is that the spring slatted frames are actually causing the noise, and we are considering buying the SULTAN Laxeby frames instead.

We would still like to know if it’s worth it. After all, the Malm bed costs only $129, minus $10 for the slats.

Is the Malm bed generally free of creaking, or what has your experience been?

Hello!

Even though this post is a bit older (and you probably already have your bed), I want to mention that we have LEIRSUND frames and we screwed them to the structure, so even with heavier use 😉 nothing creaks at all. The bed (Malm high) is solid and absolutely stable, and we are very satisfied.

Best regards
