Hello everyone,
I have been following the forum with great interest for a few weeks now, as I will soon become a builder myself.
We are planning a semi-detached house on a sloped site facing southwest. We will build turnkey + solid construction (KfW 70 standard) with a Vaillant heat pump system.
Attached is our floor plan, which I would appreciate some feedback on. Windows still need to be planned!
What do you think? Are the room sizes adequate?
Does anyone have any additional ideas? The bathtub, toilet, etc. on the upper floor will of course be arranged differently. The architect just added them as placeholders.
The window front on the ground floor balcony should probably be enlarged, right? Is the kitchen too large? We originally wanted a guest toilet + shower, but that doesn’t seem possible here, does it?
So many questions…
It would be great to get some tips.
Living in the house will be my wife, daughter and me (33, 2, 33), plus my parents-in-law in the basement (64 and 63).
THANK YOU 🙂
Heiko

I believe you will be able to manage with the bathroom planner.
Try searching on Google for "online bathroom planner." Quite high in the results, you will find a bathroom planner from Austria (.at).
I spent a long time working with it until our bathroom design was finalized, and I have also created a "draft" for your guest bathroom.
Enjoy "playing" with it...
I’m not from the construction industry, though—I work professionally with finance and securities.
In which part of Baden-Württemberg are you planning to build?
Best regards,
Dirk

The upstairs bathroom will really be a challenge. Are you working with a developer or planning it yourselves? Would it be possible to rotate the roof so that the sloped sides are at the front and back instead of on the sides? I find it a bit inconvenient with the current layout if the gable end is at the entrance.
I might have an idea for the bathroom, but it would reduce the size of Child 1’s room:
Straighten the wall of the children’s room and move the bathroom entrance to the side, behind the stairs. Then you could place the bathtub under the roof slope, put a shower in the niche where the bathroom door is now, install the sink on the wall next to the stairs, and place the toilet in front of the shower – the standing height should still be sufficient.
In the resulting niche between the bathroom and the child’s room, you could also create a small storage closet for toilet paper and cleaning supplies.

Doc.Schnaggls3 Sep 2014 15:33Manu's bathroom looks quite good.
However, due to the sloping ceiling, it might get a bit tight above the bathtub.
Therefore, in this design, I would prefer to install the bathtub as a "corner installation" right next to the door or beside the window.
@Manu1976: The idea of rotating the roof is not bad, but it’s relatively difficult to implement in a semi-detached house.
