Hello everyone!
We need your help. We are currently renovating an old building. Below, I have attached photos of our future living room. Although the room is quite large (33 m² (355 sq ft)), we’re struggling with ideas on how to furnish it. What we do know is that we want a sufficiently large sofa, a television, and a piano, which should be placed against an interior wall. On the right side of the sliding patio door, there will probably be a wood stove. Ideally, the sofa should be positioned in the right corner, as we don’t want every delivery person standing at the front door to see us lounging on the couch. We would really appreciate your suggestions! Thanks so much and best regards!

Maybe like this? Then place the fireplace next to the sofa on the wall to the left side of the plan. It should be drawn to scale sometime.

Where is the chimney for the wood stove?

A downside of your suggestion might be that when you are standing in the hallway, you end up looking at the side of the TV… and the stove would be behind you… hmm… that’s tricky!

I don’t see watching the TV from the side as a problem at all. Or do you still have an old tube TV?

First, it’s important to ask why the fireplace has to be exactly where you positioned it. Is there possibly another location for it?

Put the piano against the left wall; it creates a nice focal point from the hallway and you won’t linger there long enough to feel uncomfortable like on the sofa. Also, the walkway needs to stay clear, since there’s a small door in the back corner.

I would place the sofa in the room with its back to the piano. Normally, I’d prefer the corner next to the sliding door to the kitchen, but that doesn’t work with the large window and TV.

I would do it the same way: Piano against the bedroom partition wall as a welcoming focal point. Use the sofa’s backrest to help define the open space.

I would make the glass door to the hallway frosted or apply a privacy film. That makes it more cozy.

I would avoid having the sofa positioned diagonally. It doesn’t look good… having a lost corner in the middle of the room caused by the sofa creates bad energy (negative vibes, Feng Shui).

Sometimes it helps me to clarify what I want to have "in front of" me from my seating area.

We have a similar situation:
I want to be able to see the TV, the view through the window is attractive, and there is a wood stove that shouldn’t be tucked away "somewhere."
The window can’t be moved, and the stove needs to be close to the chimney. So, we have to come up with a clever solution for the TV that also takes the other two sightlines into account...

(the piano for us is an accordion that can be carried around 😉)
