Hello!

My wife and I are planning to start our home construction project at the end of 2013 or beginning of 2014.
I have a few questions in advance that some of you might be able to answer based on your experience.

I will describe my "dream house" to you, and I hope you can help me address some potential issues early on.

Basic details (approximate):

- Around 150m2 (1,615 sq ft) of living space over 2 floors
- Shed roof
- Fully basemented
- Heating via a masonry stove located centrally on the ground floor with absorbers to heat the more remote rooms (whether this is technically feasible in terms of output would need to be discussed with a professional stove maker once we know the required heating capacity; this would be our preferred approach)
- Underfloor heating or radiant heating in the rooms to be heated, since the absorbers operate continuously but not at high temperatures; also, radiant heat is generally healthier.
- For hot water, we considered solar thermal panels, which would need backup support during winter—would this make sense? If not, what are viable alternatives?
- Construction method: solid / masonry, but I am still unsure about the best building materials. It would likely need to be aligned with our radiant heating concept. Does anyone have recommendations?

Especially regarding the heating system, I am looking forward to experience reports from other users. There is a lot of information on the web, but unfortunately much of it is contradictory.

Best regards,
