Hello everyone, I hope I’m posting in the right place and that you can help me. Today I was shocked to find that the water utility had drilled a hydrant sign into my fence! Very frustrating to have my wooden fence drilled into without asking. Not to mention the painting afterwards.

Is this procedure even allowed? Couldn’t they have put the sign on the nearest streetlight instead?

I have read that they are allowed to do that, or that you have to tolerate it.

After a polite but firm phone call, the sign was removed by the water authority and reattached a few meters away to the streetlight.

The friendly supervisor also apologized on behalf of his colleagues. The sign should not have been screwed onto the fence without asking! PROPERTY DAMAGE!

Anyway, everything is back to normal now.
