ᐅ How would you install a light strip behind furniture?

Hello,

I bought a Hue Lightstrip and want to install it behind our TV cabinet and behind the sofa.

My question is, how would you attach it?

Just stick it directly to the back of the TV cabinet and sofa? Then the Lightstrip would shine directly onto the wall, so some light might be lost, right?

Or would you stick a self-adhesive cable duct to the TV cabinet or the wall behind the sofa and then attach the Lightstrip to that? That way the Lightstrip would shine fully upwards.

What would you recommend, and what could I use as an alternative to a self-adhesive cable duct? It should be as inexpensive as possible but still secure.

Where can you get these profiles?
Ordering online is difficult because of the length.

A cable duct with internal LED strips offers 3 options for adhesive mounting inside, and 3 options for external fastening. Try out what doesn’t cause glare for you. Also, determine whether you want ambient lighting only or reading light as well.

I actually ordered them online. For lengths up to 2m (6.5 ft), many shops charge only €6-8 shipping (GLS seems to be a good carrier – there is also a larger store in Austria that ships without extra charge). Some charge a (small) oversize surcharge between €5 and €15.

Only ambient light

I was thinking of something like this for 2 meters (6.5 feet) under 2€ from the hardware store.
Just stick it on the back side, 5-10cm (2-4 inches) away from the top edge of the lowboard so it diffuses, and that’s it.

I need to check if I can find something not with 90 degrees but with 125 or 135 degrees.
Then stick the light strip on it and done.

And even if you don’t like it, it won’t cost you much. Just give it a try.

I have installed an LED strip from goove under the low board, the sideboard, and the kitchen baseboard. It’s an absolute highlight for kids’ parties when it blinks in time with the music. Additionally, the TV is equipped with goove’s ambilight, which is great for watching movies.

Living room with large TV wall, Deadpool movie, blue ambient lighting, and piano.
