ᐅ How wide is a container truck?

Hello everyone, I have a somewhat unusual question, but maybe someone here can help—ideally a truck driver experienced with containers:

Our driveway is not very wide, but a VW Golf fits through comfortably with some space on both sides. A small wall and a metal post form the entrance. If necessary, I would need to widen this opening.

I want to place a container in the yard because the closer it is to the house (or under the first-floor terrace), the fewer trips we have to make with the debris buckets.

Maybe someone here knows the total width of a container truck—not just the container size, but the truck as well? That would be great!

Thanks in advance and best regards

It should also be noted that there are containers and container vehicles in various sizes. In addition to the clear width of the gate opening, the required turning radii should also be considered. It is best to explain the situation to the container service of your choice.

By the way, a "container" is 8 feet wide :P.

This is the best option. Try calling a container service. Ours, for example, also provides some with vehicles that can fit in a cemetery.

So these 3 cubic meter (3.9 cubic yards) containers are about 1 meter (3.3 feet) wide...

Thank you for your responses!

I measured the narrowest points of our driveway, which are 2.90 m (9.5 ft), so it should fit a container truck, even if it’s tight! I’ll send pictures of the driveway with the measurements to the container company beforehand, or ask them to come and measure themselves. It will be a simple 10 sqm (108 sq ft) container for storage; these roll containers would probably be too long for our purposes.

The truck only needs to reverse straight in.

For example, the Iveco 3.5-ton truck with a box body and hydraulic tail lift that our company uses has the following dimensions: The box is the widest, fixed part at exactly 2.00 m (6.6 ft) wide, and with mirrors folded out, the total width is 2.60 m (8.5 ft).

That’s reassuring, as I often rent this truck to deliver larger equipment and materials.
