Hello,
we are currently building a house with a developer.
We recently managed to visit the house without the developer’s supervision (which is actually not allowed, but the tradespeople let us in).
During this visit, we saw one of the packaged washbasins.
We photographed and checked the part number.
It is not the KeraTect version, although we ordered KeraTect.
Our handover appointment with the developer is scheduled in the coming days.
How can we verify during handover whether the installed washbasin is actually KeraTect or not?
Is the part number or any marking indicating KeraTect visible on the underside, or something similar?
If the part number, for example, is only on the back side in the case of Geberit, we obviously cannot check this during handover.
Do you have any suggestions on the best way to check or prove at acceptance that a non-KeraTect washbasin has been installed?
By the way, another washbasin and two toilets are also supposed to have KeraTect, but we have neither seen the items nor the packaging. Most likely, those are not KeraTect either.
Now we need to find a way to verify or prove this at handover...
Best regards

If a part comes from a different manufacturer, the others likely do as well. Often, these are more affordable private labels from wholesaler suppliers. Try calling the manufacturer and ask how you can reliably identify their product.

knalltüte25 Apr 2020 14:36I would rather ask myself how I can prevent those things from being installed without the general contractor finding out that I was in the house...?
Purpose:
A) Avoiding waste of resources (installation/removal -> disposal?)
B) Avoiding "more" trouble than necessary due to higher costs (for installation/removal)

nordanney25 Apr 2020 14:44Proceed as described by superzapp. Otherwise, it is not identifiable anywhere else.
Hmm, yes, simply stating it and insisting on proof, such as a delivery note, could be an idea.
It would of course be great if we could identify something on site, like a marking or the part number visible on the underside. That way, we could immediately prove on site that it is not correct.
Surely Geberit must also be able to recognize which part was installed here.
I will call Geberit on Monday and ask.
Thanks in advance for the tips.
