Hello everyone,

I recently fitted my kitchen with Ikea Metod fronts. The combination of plastic and glass fronts looks really stylish, but I want to be sure about how to properly clean and maintain these surfaces without damaging them.

I am especially interested in:
- Which cleaning products are suitable for the plastic fronts and which should be avoided?
- How can the glass fronts be cleaned gently, especially without streaks or smudges?
- Are there any special care tips to preserve the lifespan and appearance of the fronts in the long term?

I have read that aggressive cleaners can be problematic, but I still want to ensure effective cleaning. What are your experiences or recommendations for a gentle yet thorough approach?

Thanks for your advice!

In addition to the previous tips:

- Plastic fronts: After cleaning with a mild detergent, make sure to rinse thoroughly to remove any soap residues that could damage the plastic.
- For glass fronts, use an ammonia-free glass cleaner, as ammonia can harm the coating, especially on frameless glass fronts.
- Matte glass fronts are best cleaned gently with lukewarm water and a soft cloth; aggressive or acidic cleaners can dull matte surfaces over time.

One more cleaning tip: Avoid sharp edges or abrasive sponges to prevent scratches. Regular, gentle maintenance will help preserve the appearance and functionality of the fronts in the long term.

I am particularly interested in recommendations for silicone-based plastic care products. Are there any restrictions, for example regarding the frequency of use or possible residues that might accumulate over time?

The answer provided is correct. Such care products should not be used more often than every 3-4 months. Residues can attract dust and make the surface slightly sticky. Also important: Always clean and dry the fronts thoroughly before application.

This is an important advice that I want to confirm. Ammonia-based cleaners should definitely not be used on glass fronts, as they can damage the surface over time and cause dull spots.

In summary:
- Plastic: Mild soap solution, sparing use of silicone-based care product
- Glass: Glass cleaner without ammonia or vinegar water, soft lint-free cloth, no aggressive cleaners

This way, the appearance of Ikea Metod fronts is preserved.
