Hello everyone!
Our construction work on and within 2 meters (6.5 feet) around the house is finally completed...

Of course, this has left some dirt on the brickwork. Among other things, there are still white paint splatters from the painter who plastered and painted the upper floor white...

What is the best way to clean our brickwork?

It is a Röben Brighton Kohle brick, which unfortunately is NOT acid-resistant!

Does anyone have specific product recommendations or cleaning methods?

I would really appreciate any advice.

I would just leave it to the painter at first... if he’s not careful.

We already had so much trouble with that, I'm glad it’s no longer on the site.

Besides, it’s only done half-heartedly anyway...

Unfortunately, I can't give you any tips. But definitely make sure that no residue or damage is left on the window frames during cleaning.

Ok, that’s an argument. Next, I would contact the brick manufacturer.

I think the most important question is: What type of paint was used?

I would guess it’s a common silicone resin paint or a silicate paint.
If I remember correctly, these cure chemically and form a bond with the substrate through a process called vitrification. The problem with this is that there’s no solvent to remove them. Most likely, only mechanical removal will work.

So, in your case, gentle sanding or scraping is advisable.
Using water only works if the paint is still very fresh.

I actually painted an outdoor wall with silicone resin paint just today.
Some of it got onto a paving stone, and despite scrubbing hard and a lot, I only managed to remove it partially. It was more like lightly sanding it off with a rough cloth.

Have you already paid the painter? You might want to bring this up as a defect and possibly deduct it from the invoice.
On the other hand, the painter should know what they’re doing and even how to clean this paint off facing bricks. So, maybe give them a chance.
