Do you use the same tape for the joint that is also stuck to the wall? A screed installer on MyHammer told me that this is not done. Apparently, there are people on MyHammer who know what they’re talking about...

Whether you definitely need a movement joint at that location depends on how the rooms are used. Are there any sound insulation requirements? Are the rooms heated differently? These are all questions you should clarify with your designer.
