Hello everyone,
how would you lay the tiles (wood look, 30x120cm (12x48 inches))? Across or along the windows?
The tiler suggests laying them across because of the expansion joints (cement screed), while the floor installer recommends laying them along the windows to avoid glare, which is also common practice with parquet and laminate floors.
The expansion joint in the kitchen and living room could be better concealed by laying the tiles across.
Additionally, the tiler advises a maximum grout offset of 20cm (8 inches) because all tiles are basically slightly uneven.

Points to consider:
Point 1: If you lay the tiles perpendicular, the joints will be more visible. This is something to consider depending on what you value.
Point 2: Using an expansion joint would be the most practical solution from a craftsmanship perspective.
Point 3: Regarding aesthetics: the direction of the layout can influence how the space feels. For example, narrow rooms can appear wider.

In smaller residential buildings, you can seal the expansion joint with cork or epoxy resin. We consulted our heating specialist about this, and he did not see any issues with the different heating circuits.

By the way: nice floor plan for a semi-detached house. Did the load-bearing wall between the hallway and the living area have to be there, or was that your preference?

I faced the same question and decided (based on logic and the expert’s recommendation) to lay the tiles along the expansion joint. Otherwise, for example, in the large living-dining area, there would have been an unattractive break in the tiles in the middle.

Of course, if there is a joint in the middle of the room, it will definitely be the dominant factor acoustically.

We installed everything in one direction. Depending on the viewpoint, they are either perpendicular to or aligned with the direction of the incoming light.

I can’t really contribute as I haven’t made this decision yet, but could you share what type of tile it is? I really like the look.
