Hi,
I am looking for an app, a portal, or something similar where I can view and ideally manage or schedule all the necessary maintenance and related tasks for my house. I could probably gather everything from Google and put it into an Excel sheet or calendar, but maybe someone has a recommendation for a "home manager" app or another approach. Thanks!
Best regards,
Carsten

I don't quite understand the purpose of this tool yet. Many things are simply done as needed. And if they aren’t done right away, the world doesn’t end and nothing gets damaged.
Off the top of my head, there’s only one scheduled appointment I need to take care of: the annual heating system maintenance. Even then, I could sign a service contract so the plumbing company reminds me.

Off the top of my head, there’s only one regular appointment I have to manage, which is the annual heating system maintenance. And even then, I could sign a service contract so the plumbing company reminds me. Hi Flo, thanks for sharing your honest thoughts on this. It’s great that you automatically keep important tasks like heating maintenance in mind.
I agree with you: while it’s true that some tasks can be done on an as-needed basis, important things can still easily be overlooked or neglected. This can sometimes lead to unpleasant and avoidable problems. I’m thinking, for example, of smoke alarm maintenance, annual inspections of the basement/attic for mold, gutter cleaning, clearing of external drains (we once had an unfortunate experience with a basement flood), filter replacements, and much more.
When I see how busy car wash stations get on weekends, I sometimes feel that people pay more attention and care to their cars than their homes, even though their homes are usually much more valuable. Not everyone and not necessarily at every stage of life, but I feel there’s still a lot of potential for improvement when it comes to digital support in this area.
I agree with you that having a reminder for tasks like filter changes is useful. For that, a regular calendar is sufficient. I would never think of scheduling gutter cleaning on a fixed date. If it overflows when it rains or I notice a lot of dirt in it, then it gets done. Otherwise, not.
Everything else that needs to be done regularly is entered in the calendar, and that’s enough. If needed, appointments can be rescheduled when the timing doesn’t work.
Of course, you can probably find a reason for an app for every issue ;-)
Even an app won’t be able to prevent many of the problems you described. Unless you set the intervals very close together. But then, in your free time, you would be almost exclusively busy checking or taking care of things, leaving even less time for enjoyable activities or simply doing nothing.

Of course, you could probably find a suitable use case for an app for every problem ;-)

Then you’d be spending almost all your free time checking or doing tasks and would have even less time for activities you enjoy or just for relaxing. With family, work, the house, and so on, currently about 75% of my free time is spent thinking about and organizing various things 🙂 That’s why I want to reduce the mental load a bit.
But of course, there’s no harm if you like keeping track of all these things. On the contrary. Maybe even if you’re not directly the target audience, you might be interested in checking out Homerockr. I appreciate any feedback and ideas.
