ᐅ How to Keep an Overview of All Maintenance and Renovation Tasks for the House?

Hi,
I am looking for an app, a portal, or something similar where I can view and ideally manage or schedule all the necessary maintenance and related tasks for my house. I could probably gather everything from Google and put it into an Excel sheet or calendar, but maybe someone has a recommendation for a "home manager" app or another approach. Thanks!
Best regards,
Carsten

Can this tool even create a mobile version? As far as I can tell, it’s generated with Bubble io.
For a task tracker that works just like Trello and charges 48€ per year for a few pie charts, that’s quite expensive.

Hi Kati, yes, the web application is built using Bubble. A mobile version is feasible. Based on initial research, the effort required seems manageable. I will see if I can implement it soon.

Thanks also for your feedback regarding the price. The difference from traditional task trackers is that the system handles task creation for you (see the task pool), although of course you can still create your own tasks. In terms of pricing, I have positioned it slightly below popular task trackers (Trello, ToDoist, etc.). The features will be significantly expanded in the coming weeks, so I believe the distinction will become clearer.

What additional task automation would you need from the mobile version to convince you?

Honestly, I don’t see any real added value in the whole concept. I use the free version of Trello, which is more than enough for me, and also ClickUp (for our entire life^^) since I come from an IT background and am familiar with these kinds of boards. For statistics and cost tracking, I use Excel. However, I’m probably not your target audience since I’m comfortable using Excel and other tools. For your target group, who just want something simple for the house, I agree with Silke – if they want to use something like this, it would probably be as a smartphone app.

Reading meter readings should even work via a scan function using the camera. I will take a closer look at that, thanks for the feedback!

Syncing reminders from the app to common calendars should also be doable. I’ll add that to the list, thanks.

How valuable do you think splitting tasks by partner/household member is? That is, assigning each task to one person with the option to distribute household "care work" as evenly as possible?

I consider the latter unnecessary, since usually one partner takes care of it. If needed, you can always talk to each other 😉

Fair enough. When I look at myself, I unfortunately catch myself too often not being “on top of all things” regarding our house. I also notice this frequently among friends. That’s why the approach with pre-filled tasks (templates) that you can simply drag into your overview. Homerockr is also intended to be a living project, enriched by the community with task ideas.

Would you mind sharing what exactly you have set up for statistics and cost overviews? Are there specific KPIs you track, year-over-year comparisons, ongoing costs?

I only look at a few KPIs privately. 😀
I keep a simple household spreadsheet to track what comes in and goes out at the beginning of each month.
Then I calculate a result after fixed costs and deduct some flat rates for groceries/personal care, fuel (which usually isn’t needed anymore), cash, etc., to get a final “result” that should remain at the end of the month.
When the next salary is posted, I check the previous day’s total in online banking to see if my calculated value roughly matches the actual remaining balance in the account. If there are significant differences, I look into where the money went or where we were frugal.

Of course, we check the online portal to see how the photovoltaic system and battery are performing, and we monitor how much electricity we draw from the grid more by chance. I’m not very interested in other details, year-over-year comparisons, or such. If the washing machine breaks down one year, knowing that it didn’t break down the previous year isn’t really helpful to me.

When the next paycheck is deposited, I use online banking to check the previous day’s balance total to see if my calculated value roughly matches the actual balance. If there are big discrepancies, I may look into where the money went or where we managed to save.

Of course, we check the online portal for the photovoltaic system and the battery storage, and we monitor how much electricity we draw from the grid, but more by chance than systematically. Things like year-over-year comparisons and so on don’t really interest me. If the washing machine breaks down one year, knowing it didn’t break down the previous year doesn’t really help me.

Okay, I understand. Thanks for the insight.

Currently, our electricity and gas usage is also rather under the radar. Sometimes we consume more, sometimes less. I want to gain more transparency here with the goals of a) saving costs and b) using energy on the property more sustainably and consciously. To do this, I first need to have a baseline with comparison values and later monthly comparisons. I also want to include and track the photovoltaic system.
