Hi,
I am looking for an app, a portal, or something similar where I can view and ideally manage or schedule all the necessary maintenance and related tasks for my house. I could probably gather everything from Google and put it into an Excel sheet or calendar, but maybe someone has a recommendation for a "home manager" app or another approach. Thanks!
Best regards,
Carsten

Am I making this more complicated than it needs to be, or do you also see value in it?
Clear answer to 1.) Yes and to 2.) No – German overengineering ;-)

Of course, I walk through the garden and see everything that needs to be done, but if it’s not scheduled at the beginning of the week, nothing will get done. WTF 😀 And I thought I sometimes tend to be a bit of a perfectionist.

Am I making rocket science out of this, or do you also see any benefit? Only if it satisfies your playful side. If it feels compulsive, I’d suggest discussing it with a therapist 😉
No, seriously. You have a house. If you see something that needs to be done, do it. Or write it down on a Post-it and stick it somewhere of your choice, for as long as you want.

I just don’t get it.
Wouldn’t simply creating an extra calendar provide enough separation? Exactly. You have to enter the appointments manually anyway.
If you want to repaint the facade in 10 years, you’ll have to manually add the appointment for February 27, 2033 (2/27/2033).
But I still don’t see the point. You call the technician for heating maintenance before the heating season starts. You sand the terrace when it no longer looks good. You oil the parquet floor every few months. You paint the facade when it starts looking worn. You sweep away leaves when there are too many…
And you clear the sidewalk of snow when it’s snowing.
Which of these really needs to be entered as a recurring event in the calendar?
Not that I would do it myself, but you can save a kind of inspection rounds. Then, theoretically, you can set individual appointments if you find something. Some people otherwise have trouble actually doing it. I can basically understand that.
But I think a dedicated app for that is a bit too much. Having a separate calendar in Google or in Thunderbird is fine.
