Hello everyone.
We would like to insulate the ceiling of our top floor because we only want to use the attic as a storage space. We have owned the house for less than 4 weeks, so we don’t have much expert knowledge yet 🙂
Now for the question: How can we replace the existing staircase to the attic with a hatch? At the moment, there is a small staircase with a door installed.

Since the house is an old building, the attic does not have a proper floor. There are just a few floorboards loosely placed that you can walk on. Is it sufficient to remove those floorboards, screw OSB panels onto the joists, and then lay the insulation on top?
Sorry for the beginner questions, but everyone has to start somewhere.
Have a nice evening.
Best regards

hm

Can the beams support the OSB panels?
Are there ventilation bricks for the attic?
How has the insulation been done so far?
Are the OSB panels supposed to act as the vapor barrier, or is there already one installed?
