Hello everyone,

I’m currently pondering something.
We have Poroton masonry.
The plasterer suggested that I simply apply a smooth coat using cheap tile adhesive, and then attach the vapor barrier onto that.

Question for you:
How and with what have you sealed the wall connections?

Best regards

Pro tip: Choose a wooden house to save yourself the need for a smooth screed finish.

Seriously: Yes, a smooth screed finish and then use an approved adhesive from a cartridge, for example Sxxx Primur

What is the best material to use for the final smoothing layer?

What type of plaster will be applied afterward? Cement-lime plaster? Then use that one.
If you need it to dry quickly, use construction adhesive or tile adhesive (not the expensive flexible adhesive).

Do not stick the foil under tension; apply it loosely to prevent it from detaching later. Ideally, use an embedding pressure strip for additional securement. The DIN standard, I believe, also requires a mechanically secure connection. Whether adhesives alone provide this without additional tension support, I’m not sure—most builders probably only manage to use an approved adhesive and apply it FULLY in a continuous bead rather than in isolated spots.

Question:
I don’t want to finish the attic right now.
However, I would like to install the vapor retarder on the collar beam in a way that allows for future finishing.
What is the best way to do this?
