Hello everyone, I recently assembled a Brimnes wardrobe from Ikea and I’m wondering how stable this piece of furniture really is under everyday conditions. Online reviews often focus on the appearance or price, but provide less concrete information about its stability or how the materials behave after assembly.
I am particularly interested in whether the wardrobe – especially larger versions with multiple doors and drawers – remains truly sturdy when loaded normally, or if it tends to wobble, deform, or have issues with hinges and joints under load.
What are your experiences? Are there any special assembly tips that improve or reduce stability? Do you use any additional fastenings to secure it to the wall?
I look forward to your insights and advice on how to keep the Brimnes wardrobe stable over the long term.

A few weeks ago, I also assembled a Brimnes and had similar thoughts. For me, the main issue was the drawer slide, which sometimes didn’t run smoothly and got slightly misaligned.
I was able to fix this by making small adjustments, and after that, everything worked fine again.
In terms of stability, I would say the wardrobe offers an exceptional value for the price; otherwise, I wouldn’t have chosen it. One tip: Mount it on the wall as soon as possible – this really provides valuable safety.

It’s important to be realistic about the weight limits. If you overfill a 3-door Brimnes wardrobe with heavy items, it may start to wobble, and even wall mounting won’t prevent that.
However, with proper care—such as evenly distributing the load, regularly tightening the joints, and securing it to the wall—the wardrobe is robust and durable.
I was also concerned since I have three children and quite a bit gets packed inside. So far, the wardrobe has proven to be more stable than I expected.

As flota already mentioned, wall anchoring is not an unnecessary effort but essential for safety reasons.Exactly, I want to emphasize that once again.
Additionally, I recommend being very careful when using a cordless drill during assembly to avoid overdriving the screws and damaging the wood. This can significantly affect stability.
When storing delicate or heavy items in cabinets of this type, it is advisable to place heavier objects at the bottom to keep the center of gravity low and reduce the risk of tipping over.
