Hello,

Our new bathroom doesn’t offer much space in terms of size, so I came across acrylic bathtubs. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find up-to-date information regarding user experiences, satisfaction levels, quality characteristics (stability, surface finish), customer service, and so on.

Who has experience with the installation or use of acrylic bathtubs?

Besides dimensions, shape, price, and availability of accessories, which additional decision factors should I consider when choosing for or against a specific manufacturer?

Thanks in advance

In my opinion, acrylic bathtubs generally have more disadvantages compared to steel enamel bathtubs. They do not retain heat as well as enamel, and the surface becomes dull over time. However, acrylic tubs come in a wider variety of shapes and are lighter.

It’s also a bit a matter of personal preference. For example, I don’t like the feel of steel enamel. We had a tub from xyz in the rental apartment, and I much prefer acrylic.

Can anyone comment on the workmanship and quality of acrylic tubs? Are these tubs any good?

We use a bathtub support as insulation and that’s it. The water also stays warm.

Hello.
@ypg: Your post surprises me. In my opinion, acrylic bathtubs retain heat much better, don’t they? They have a lower density, which is why they also feel warm to the touch. The fact that the bathwater doesn’t cool down so quickly was actually a reason in favor of the acrylic bathtub for me. (Not ordered yet.)

They do feel warmer, yes! But enamel absorbs the water temperature faster and retains it.
Acrylic bathtubs always need an insulation layer of polystyrene foam to store heat effectively. This then balances out the initially lower price of acrylic tubs compared to steel tubs, which are usually more expensive by default.
