Hello everyone,

I have a specific question about Ikea Platsa furniture and how long it takes to disassemble it: How quickly can a typical Platsa piece be completely taken apart?

Specifically, I am interested in the process of fully dismantling the unit, including removing all fasteners such as cam locks, dowels, or screws. I am generally familiar with furniture assembly and tools but want to estimate whether disassembling a medium-sized Platsa cabinet (approximately 2 meters (6 ft 7 in) tall and 1 meter (3 ft 3 in) wide) into individual parts can be done in 30 minutes, or if it usually takes around an hour or more.

I’m also curious about which factors affect the time required, such as the type of connectors, the presence of backing panels or doors, and whether certain tools (specialized tools, screwdriver bits, etc.) can significantly speed up the process.

I would appreciate any experiences, estimates, and tips on how to disassemble more efficiently.

It is also advisable to check all screw types and connectors in advance to have the right tools ready – this saves a lot of time during disassembly.

Exactly, I agree. Quickly check which tools are needed, then get started right away.
