Hello everyone,
I recently assembled several pieces of furniture from the Ikea Brimnes series, mainly wardrobes and dressers. I noticed that some parts needed minor adjustments after a few weeks because doors no longer closed smoothly or drawers didn’t slide as easily.
My specific question is: How often do Ikea Brimnes furniture pieces typically need readjustment before they settle properly? Are there particular areas to pay special attention to in order to ensure long-term stability and functionality?
I would really appreciate your experiences so I know what to expect and how best to handle this.

Typically, this three-step inspection is sufficient.I agree with that. It’s really important to do this at regular intervals; otherwise, you might eventually notice that even a small screw has loosened, which can cause, for example, doors to become misaligned.
For those who want to be very precise, paying attention to the floor’s level is also important, especially if the floor is not perfectly flat. That can make the adjustment more difficult.

This can make adjustments more difficult. That's true, the floor in my bedroom is unfortunately not 100% level. That could obviously have an impact, especially since I have also noticed that doors sometimes stick. Are there any tricks to compensate for this, or do I really need to keep readjusting constantly?
So far, I have only used the small plastic feet that came with the product, which can be slightly adjusted, but I wonder if there is a more stable solution.

Are there any tricks to compensate for this, or do I really have to keep readjusting?Yes, that’s an important point. On uneven floors, the following often helps:
- Use sturdy felt or rubber pads under the feet that do not compress
- If necessary, use small wooden or plastic wedges when the feet’s height adjustability is not sufficient
- Check that the furniture modules sit flush on the floor, otherwise the load on the hinges increases
This way, you can minimize stress on the joints and reduce the need for readjustment.
Additionally, I recommend tightening all screws very securely; it never hurts.
