Hi everyone, we are currently planning our housebuild quite intensively, and when it comes to choosing a heating system, we are considering using a heat pump. We have heard from friends that, in the long run, it can be more cost-effective because heating costs are reduced. However, these friends do not have one themselves yet; they are just thinking about it. What is your opinion on this? What should we consider? Would you recommend it? We are also thinking of getting advice soon from Vaillant, as they apparently have pretty good customer service. In general, I would appreciate any tips on this topic. Thanks in advance!

First of all, I want to point out that it is not possible to give general prices for the different options, as it always depends on the specific circumstances and other factors. In principle, ground source heat pumps are more cost-efficient in the medium to long term. If this option is not feasible for you, I recommend an air-to-water heat pump combined with a photovoltaic system.

Why not combine an exhaust air heat pump?

@Nutshell

Is the question really serious?

Yes, back then a salesman offered me an air-to-water heat pump plus a ventilation system with an exhaust air heat pump.

However, I did not build with him because I found out that he repeatedly opened or had newly opened subcontractors who carried out the work for him. I suspect this was a way to effectively suppress warranty claims and who knows what other advantages he gained at the expense of his customers.

Unfortunately, I no longer have the documents.

Aha, okay... I see. You heard something and would recommend it. But you haven’t actually built like that yourself. 😎

I didn’t recommend anything. Are you perhaps a politician or journalist? They are often good at twisting people’s words.

Where exactly did I make a recommendation? Sorry, but it seems you’re just looking for an argument. I hope the facts are clear and understandable for others reading along.

And just to clarify: Although I have built a house, I wouldn’t consider myself a “consultant” in this forum. I see myself as a layperson. So please forgive any ignorance I may show in some areas. I heat with gas, not with a heat pump.
