ᐅ How modular is the IKEA METOD kitchen system?

That should all be doable. With some persistence and inquiry, you can also find individual parts in the clearance section.

Let's see which handles Ikea will add to their range by 2017 – we find all the current ones rather meh, except for the ones we are currently using.

And yes, it would involve stacking carcasses to gain an 80cm (31.5 inch) pull-out for pots (2x80cm (31.5 inches) won’t fit). But honestly, I don’t think we need that, since we don’t have many pots, and certainly not that large. For visual and budget reasons, the current plan is like this:

But I still wanted to ask and consider it.

Hmm, it’s definitely doable... but just for the look???
You’d have to pull out the entire 1.4m (55 inches) for every small pot... no, no, I don’t find that practical.
There should be a better solution.

I would make one drawer in the middle and two pull-outs at the bottom. Why wouldn’t that be enough?
IF, as you say, you don’t have many pots.

Right now, in my kitchen, I have two cabinets each with two pull-outs. The overall width on the outside is 1 meter (39 inches).
So, in total, four equally sized pull-outs, each about 45cm (18 inches) deep, 43cm (17 inches) wide, and 22cm (9 inches) high... above each pull-out is a normal drawer.
These are in what was then a standard 50cm (20 inches) wide kitchen cabinet, 86cm (34 inches) high including the toe kick and countertop.

In the first pull-out I keep:
- Two 1.3L (1.4 quarts) pots, 16cm (6.3 inches) diameter
- Three 2.3L (2.4 quarts) pots, 20cm (7.9 inches) diameter
- Two 3.1L (3.3 quarts) pots, 20cm (7.9 inches) diameter
- One small, low pan with two handles, 20cm (7.9 inches) diameter

In the pull-out below that:
- One shallow pan, 24cm (9.4 inches) diameter
- Two 3.3L (3.5 quarts) pots, 24cm (9.4 inches) diameter
- One 3L (3.2 quarts) pot, 24cm (9.4 inches) diameter

In the next cabinet pull-outs, first one:
Frying pans—one large deep pan with lid, a 24cm (9.4 inches) and a 20cm (7.9 inches) frying pan, plus one small mini pan.

In the pull-out below, second one:
Pots I rarely use:
- One tall 20cm (7.9 inches) pot
- One shallow 20cm (7.9 inches) pot
Plus steaming inserts and other bits and pieces.

All of this is stored in a total outer length of 1 meter (39 inches).
The pots are the same model, so the diameters line up vertically. Different ones are stored side by side. You take out from the top, put back on top. If you need more than one, then the lower one comes into use too.

How about focusing on your storage planning instead of the cabinet design?
That way, you’ll know exactly how much space you really need for your pots.
