That should all be doable. With some persistence and inquiry, you can also find individual parts in the clearance section.

Hello Nörgli,
In fact, some of those ideas match my plans, and even if you only save 20 euros, a) that means one more piece of interior furniture ( ) and b) I’m not a fan of throwing away unused components. Replacing walls and floors would almost exactly balance out in my case.

True… I also always find that a challenge.
For example, with the bench: I would want an 80cm (32 inches) wide drawer, which isn’t planned that way. Hence the DIY work.

Sure, then the two smaller ones are a bit annoying… you’d need two drawers and those are “expensive.”
Two 40x60cm (16x24 inches) cost 94 euros. Veddinge doors 18 euros
One 80x60cm (32x24 inches) costs 55 euros. Veddinge door 13 euros.
That’s 44 euros more expensive plus the carcass was something like 17 euros.
Still, you don’t get the larger drawer.
And the HÖRDA shelves are nicer, but for me, they just don’t fit the rest of the building. The fixed shelf spacing doesn’t appeal to me either. (Especially since I probably have them next to an equally open cabinet, and the differently thick walls would really stand out.)

True, somewhere in the middle between two glass cabinets… but if there are open cabinets next to it,
then it just doesn’t work. It might work well, but personally, that wouldn’t feel right to me.
I’ll reconsider your suggestions about the back panels. Since I’m using drawers, maybe I won’t need any, and the cabinets on the exterior wall should stay open at the back anyway to prevent mold.

Well then, maybe open would be best. Or for the wall cabinets, just the 60cm (24 inches) back panel, so
there’s still air space above and not so much wall covered.

Bye, Sabine

I have another DIY question...

Has anyone ever tried to attach one single front to two drawers? For example, in two base cabinets standing side by side, one 80cm (31.5 inches) wide and the other 60cm (23.6 inches) wide, each with a drawer that is 40cm (15.7 inches) high at the bottom, connecting them with a 140cm (55.1 inches) wide front panel so that both drawers open at the same time? (With either one handle in the middle or two handles further out.)

Of course, you would have to drill the holes yourself, but is it even possible to link them like that? I assume you would first have to install the drawers inside the cabinet to ensure it fits properly in the end?

Edit: Something like this:

It is possible, even with the terrible handles.
What is supposed to be the advantage of that?

Nothing against my stylish handles, hey!

The advantage would be that 80 60 looks awkward with the 40 60 40 drawers above. So it would purely be an aesthetic decision and, after all, just a quick idea for now...

40 - 60 - 40 would look fine visually, but 80 is obviously more space-efficient than 2 x 40.

For a BOBDÜNN front, the handles are still acceptable, but definitely not for a modern smooth VEDDINGE...

Now I didn’t really think it through properly. If you have carcasses that are 40 - 60 - 40 cm (16 - 24 - 16 inches) wide, you can’t install an 80 cm (32 inches) wide drawer into the carcasses, or are different carcasses supposed to be stacked?
