Hello everyone,
I am currently planning to assemble some furniture from the IKEA Brimnes series and am wondering how many hours one should realistically allow for the assembly. I am particularly interested in an assessment that takes various factors into account, such as the difficulty level of the instructions, the number of individual parts, and potential challenges during the build.
Is this more of a project that can comfortably be completed in 2-3 hours, or is it better to plan for half a day or more? Are there differences between the various Brimnes pieces, for example between the bed frame, wardrobes, or dressers?
I would like to have a reliable time estimate to plan better and would appreciate firsthand experiences or well-founded estimates.

I recently assembled a Brimnes bed with a storage box and can confirm that the assembly time was about 3 to 3.5 hours.
It is important to follow the instruction manual step by step and not rush the process. Patience pays off, especially when aligning the side panels and nailing the slatted bed base.
If you are working alone, you should allow an additional 30 to 45 minutes.
Good luck with your project!

The actual assembly time for Brimnes furniture varies depending on the type of furniture, prior experience, and available tools.
- Brimnes bed frame with storage box: approximately 3 hours for one person with some experience, otherwise 3.5 to 4 hours.
- Brimnes 3-drawer chest: 2 to 2.5 hours, especially due to the precise adjustment of the drawer slides.
I recommend having the following tools ready: screwdriver, cordless drill, spirit level, and enough space for assembly. This helps avoid mistakes and improves the quality of the build.
It’s wise to allow some extra time, about 10-20% more than your estimated duration, to reduce stress.

don’t get discouraged! 😊
At the beginning of the year, I also assembled two Brimnes furniture pieces at the same time – the bed and the chest of drawers. It took me about 3 hours to put together the bed, including breaks and a coffee in between. The chest of drawers was finished in just under 2 hours.
The assembly instructions are well made, so it’s not as bad as it seems! My advice: stay calm and enjoy the process, it really helps a lot.
Good luck, it will turn out great!

The instructions for the Brimnes are generally clear and well-organized, but there are some fittings on the bed frame that need to be very precise. Because of this, it’s advisable to dry-fit parts several times before tightening screws. These small potential issues can be avoided with patience, but they do require time.
The dresser is easier to handle since it consists of fewer large parts, and the drawer slides are relatively intuitive.
