MeoniGood evening everyone, I recently purchased some Ikea Brimnes furniture for my new apartment and plan to assemble it myself. I am particularly interested in how long the average assembly time for these Brimnes products usually is. Does anyone have experience or reliable information on this? I am especially concerned with the common Brimnes dressers and bed frames. It would be helpful if you could also break down your times according to the level of difficulty or the number of parts. Thanks in advance!

I am particularly interested in how long the average assembly of such Brimnes products usually takes. That’s an interesting question, but I view it at least somewhat critically. The term "average assembly time" is hard to define: Were you assembling alone, with two people, or more? Do the people involved have different levels of experience with furniture assembly? I suspect the times vary greatly. Without specific information about the experience of the individuals and their equipment (e.g., tools), time estimates alone are of limited value.
In general, assembly times for Brimnes furniture, such as dressers or beds, range between 1.5 and 3 hours, depending on your experience with furniture assembly. An important factor is the specific model variant, as some versions have more drawers or additional components that increase the assembly time.
- A simple Brimnes dresser with 3 drawers:
about 90 to 120 minutes.
- Brimnes bed frame (including slatted base):
up to 3 hours, especially if assembling alone.
Ideally, having a second person to help significantly reduces the time needed.

Without detailed information about the experience of the individuals and their equipment (e.g. tools), pure time estimates are not very meaningful.Exactly, I will go into more detail: For the Brimnes series from Ikea, it is advisable to consider the following factors:
- Experience level: Beginners usually take 2-3 times longer than skilled craftsmen.
- Tools: A cordless drill with the appropriate bit set can significantly speed up assembly.
- Assembly location: Tight spaces or limited room make the process more difficult.
I was able to assemble my last Brimnes dresser (3 drawers, medium size) alone in 1 hour 40 minutes, including unpacking and sorting the parts, with the help of a cordless drill. Important: These pieces of furniture have a relatively high number of individual components and fasteners, which requires careful attention. I strongly recommend not working under time pressure.
As an addition: Brimnes beds usually take significantly longer to assemble than dressers, mainly due to the slatted bed bases and generally more complex connection systems. Experience shows:
- Brimnes dresser with 3 drawers: 1.5 to 2 hours
- Brimnes double bed frame: 2.5 to 3 hours
Thorough preparation and organized parts help to make the assembly process more efficient.
