Hello everyone, I am currently planning a small moving project and would like to estimate how much time I need for the assembly and disassembly of Ikea Brimnes furniture. Specifically, it involves a 3-piece bedroom set, including a wardrobe, a bed frame, and two bedside tables. My question is: How long does the assembly and disassembly of Ikea BRIMNES furniture usually take for someone with some experience in assembling furniture but who is not a professional? I am particularly interested in realistic time frames, including any potential difficulties or helpful tips that could speed up or simplify the process. Thank you very much for your insights!

Good morning, that’s a great question! Based on my previous assemblies of the BRIMNES series, I can say that building a single piece – such as a nightstand – usually takes about 20 to 30 minutes. For the bed frame and the wardrobe, you should expect around 1 to 1.5 hours each when using the provided tools and instructions. Disassembly typically goes a bit faster but can also depend on the tightness of the screws.

One important tip: sort all screws and parts before starting assembly. This saves time during the build and helps avoid frustration. Having a second person is especially helpful with larger furniture.

Overall, your time budget for the entire series should be about 3 to 4 hours, depending on experience and care. Hope this helps!

This estimate seems a bit optimistic to me, especially when looking more closely at the instructions for the BRIMNES wardrobe. The construction with multiple shelves, inserts, and sliding doors is more complex than many other furniture pieces in this price range.

I would recommend allowing at least 2 hours for assembling the wardrobe, especially if you take time to check that everything fits correctly along the way. Mistakes can be quite difficult to fix later.

Also, don’t underestimate the time needed for disassembly. This is less about the time itself and more about the physical effort and coordination required, particularly with larger furniture.

The question is, have you assembled similar furniture before, or is this your first attempt? That often has a major impact on the time needed.

I completely agree. I've assembled several BRIMNES pieces before, including the wardrobe and the bed. From my experience, the time required depends a lot on how carefully you follow the instructions and prepare in advance.

Generally speaking:
- Assembling and disassembling a nightstand: 20-30 minutes
- Bed frame: About 1.5 hours, especially if it’s your first time or if you work very carefully
- Wardrobe: Including the sliding doors, around 2 hours, sometimes a bit longer depending on your DIY skills

It’s also important to have your tools ready and, if possible, work with two people since the larger parts can be bulky and are often much easier to handle safely together.

If it helps, I personally prefer to allow extra time rather than too little, as that avoids unnecessary stress. Disassembly usually takes about the same time, as long as the screws aren’t overly tightened.

Good luck with your project!
