Hello everyone, I’m planning to get an Ikea Pax wardrobe and would like to estimate how much time I should typically allow for assembly. Specifically, I’m interested in how long it usually takes to assemble a standard Ikea Pax wardrobe if you have at least basic DIY skills and possibly some experience with Ikea furniture. I’m also curious whether the time required can vary significantly, for example, depending on the number of modular units, the installation of sliding doors, or custom elements like drawers and interior fittings. If anyone has tips for a more efficient assembly process, please feel free to share. Thanks in advance for your insights!

The average assembly time for an Ikea Pax wardrobe usually ranges between 3 and 6 hours, assuming it is a model of standard size and standard configuration. The modular design helps simplify the process but still requires a systematic approach.

- For a simple Pax wardrobe with 2 modules and hinged doors, you should allow about 3 to 4 hours.
- For larger combinations with 3 or more modules, sliding doors, and internal fittings, 5 to 6 hours can be realistic.

Common issues that can extend the assembly time include missing or incorrectly sorted parts, lack of proper tools, or unclear instructions. Tip: Prepare your workspace, sort all parts beforehand, and take your time during assembly to avoid frustrating rework.

I generally recommend having a second helper available, as this significantly reduces assembly time and makes especially the installation of doors easier.

This depends heavily on the complexity and the modular extensions you choose.

Hey, I recently assembled a Pax wardrobe myself and can only say: Take your time and take breaks! 😅

It took me about 4.5 hours. Of course, I was lucky to assemble it together with my partner, which really helps. The sliding doors are a bit tricky, but with some patience, you can manage them well.

I agree with that and would even lean towards 4 hours if you want to be on the safe side.

The important thing is to sort all the parts beforehand, read through the entire manual first, and then proceed step by step. That way it’s less frustrating. And yes, have your own tools ready, as Ikea doesn’t always provide them — a cordless drill is a lifesaver! 😉

Regarding the assembly time for the Ikea Pax wardrobe, I would like to share some practical tips that can help you make the process more efficient, ultimately saving time overall.

1. Preparation: Lay out all wardrobe components clearly and organize them according to the instructions. This reduces searching time during assembly.

2. Tools: Essential tools include screwdrivers (Phillips and flathead), a cordless drill with adjustable torque, and a rubber mallet for wooden joints.

3. Assembly of base modules: Always start with the lower carcass and assemble it securely. This ensures a stable foundation.

4. Assemble doors separately: If your wardrobe has sliding or hinged doors, it’s best to prepare them separately before attaching.

5. Interior fittings: Install drawers, clothes rails, shelves, etc., only after the carcass is fully assembled. This prevents misalignment and the need for adjustments.

A typical assembly time for a medium-sized Pax wardrobe (around 2–3 modules) is usually about 4 to 5 hours, depending on whether you work alone or with assistance.

I can only agree; especially when dealing with many screws, it makes a huge difference.

If you have any specific questions about the process or particular assembly steps, please feel free to ask.
