Hello everyone, I am currently planning to purchase the Ikea Brimnes bedroom set and am trying to estimate a realistic timeframe for assembly. My specific question is: How long does it generally take to assemble the Brimnes wardrobe, including the drawers and doors, for someone with average DIY experience? It would be helpful if you could share your personal experiences—feel free to include any tips on what to pay special attention to in order to make the process faster and smoother. Additionally, I’m curious whether having multiple people significantly speeds up the assembly or if working alone can still be quite efficient. Thanks in advance for your feedback!

My specific question is: How long does it take to assemble and install the Brimnes wardrobe, including the drawers and doors, with average DIY skills?Hello gire5, that’s a very good and precise question, thank you for asking so clearly! In my experience, someone with average DIY skills should plan between 2.5 and 4 hours to assemble the Brimnes wardrobe (I am especially familiar with the model that has 3 doors and 4 drawers).
It is important to lay out all the parts in an organized way and follow the instructions carefully, because patience is particularly needed with the drawers to ensure everything operates smoothly. If you are not very experienced, the process could easily take up to 4 hours.
Assembling with two people is definitely recommended. One person holds the parts steady while the other fastens them – this speeds up the process significantly and reduces the chance of mistakes. If you work alone, you will definitely need more time, especially when aligning the doors.
A small tip: sorting and organizing the screws and fittings beforehand helps save a lot of time.
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!

It’s obviously more fun when you have someone helping who is motivated too 🙂
So: plan enough time to approach it calmly and avoid stress. I played some music while assembling and took short breaks in between, which made the whole process easier and more relaxed!
Good luck with your build!

My specific question is: How long does the assembly and installation of the Brimnes wardrobe, including the drawers and doors, take for someone with average DIY experience? To add to the previous replies:
The Ikea Brimnes wardrobe typically consists of several technically simple components, but due to the number of parts and the interaction of the door and drawer mechanisms, it requires some time to assemble.
- For average DIY experience, an assembly time between 2 and 4 hours is realistic.
- It is recommended to have all tools ready (screwdriver, cordless drill with Torx bits, spirit level).
- A second person can reduce assembly time by about 30–40%, as it makes aligning the doors and holding parts easier.
- The assembly should follow the included illustrated instructions, as these are specifically designed for Ikea’s dowel and screw system.
If you plan to assemble it alone, I suggest allowing some extra time and being especially careful when fitting the drawer slides to avoid future operational issues.
I hope these factual and practical tips help with your time planning.
