Good morning everyone,

Some time ago, I purchased furniture from the IKEA Brimnes series, mainly dressers and nightstands. I noticed that while the surfaces seem quite durable, they are not particularly easy to clean when dealing with dust or occasional stains, without damaging the clear white finish.

I’m very interested in learning which cleaning methods you consider best for Brimnes furniture.
- Which cleaning agents are gentle but do not harm the lacquered surface?
- Do you prefer using household remedies or special furniture cleaners?
- How do you handle stubborn stains?
- Is there any maintenance that protects the surfaces in the long term and helps prevent scratches?

I look forward to your tips and experiences so I can keep my Brimnes furniture in good condition for as long as possible.

The best way to clean my BRIMNES furniture is with a slightly damp microfiber cloth. Do not use aggressive cleaners, only mild dish soap for stains. Then wipe dry immediately to prevent water spots.

For cleaning IKEA BRIMNES furniture, I generally recommend the following steps:

- Regularly remove dust with a dry, soft cloth to prevent scratches.
- Wipe light dirt with a cloth dipped in warm water with a small amount of dish soap.
- Avoid using harsh or abrasive cleaning products, as the surface of BRIMNES furniture is usually covered with a laminate that can be damaged.

For stubborn stains, it can sometimes help to soak them first with a damp cloth, then gently clean with a soft sponge.

Here is a simple guide for the optimal cleaning of the IKEA BRIMNES series:

1. Preparation
- First, remove loose dust with a dry microfiber cloth.

2. Cleaning
- For regular dirt, use a soft cloth dipped in lukewarm water with a few drops of mild dish soap.
- Wring it out lightly so the cloth is damp but not wet.
- Gently wipe the furniture surface.

3. Stubborn Stains
- Carefully use vinegar water (1 part vinegar to 3 parts water) on a microfiber cloth.
- Test the solution on an inconspicuous area first to avoid discoloration.

4. Aftercare
- Immediately dry the furniture with a dry cloth to prevent moisture damage.

5. Avoiding Damage
- Never use abrasive cleaners or plastic residues from adhesive tapes.
- Do not use rough sponges or steel wool, as these will scratch the surface.

In summary: Caution and mild cleaning agents are key. This will help maintain the lacquered inlay appearance for a long time.

Vinegar water is a good tip, but caution is advised with white furniture like BRIMNES. Frequent use or high concentrations of vinegar can cause slight dulling of the surface. Therefore, I recommend using this method only spot-wise on very stubborn stains and always wiping thoroughly with clean water afterward.

Otherwise, I agree with the previous advice: a damp microfiber cloth with mild dish soap is usually the best option.

For additional care and long-term maintenance of BRIMNES furniture, I recommend the following:

- Use a special furniture care cloth about once a month to protect the surface.
- These cloths often contain conditioning agents that prevent fading and provide a slight water-repellent effect.
- However, avoid oil-based polishes, which can become sticky on laminated surfaces.

If stains occur from dried coffee, food residues, or similar substances, soak them in advance before cleaning with a mild cleaner. This helps prevent scratches caused by rubbing.

In general, regular gentle cleaning is the best way to maintain the appearance.
