Hello!
We are planning a single-family house on a nice plot of land.
The basic requirements for the house on the plot are:
- Maximum one-story construction
- Gable roof with a 30-degree pitch
- Allowed eaves height 5 m (16 feet)
- Allowed ridge height 9 m (30 feet)
How high is / can / must my knee wall be?

Doc.Schnaggls18 Feb 2014 13:40Hello Delf,
That can’t really be answered so generally...
I would say it primarily depends on the width of the house and the height of the ground floor.
Try drawing a simple cross-section using the frame data listed above, and you should be able to estimate the approximate knee wall height.
Regards,
Dirk

what sensible person, with even a semblance of sound judgment, would willingly bury themselves?

You have no idea what kind of "side projects" you are casually referring to, do you?
... sometimes I'm convinced that Dieter truly experienced what he briefly describes ...
