Hello everyone, please bear with me as I am new here. If my question is inappropriate, I apologize in advance 🙂
We are considering having a KfW55 energy-efficient house built. We already have a potential building plot in mind. Since we both like to know what to expect, our question concerns the ongoing additional costs that come with owning a house. Of course, this depends on consumption as well—we are 2 adults and 3 children aged between 3 and 9. We would like to live in beautiful Brandenburg.
Maybe someone can share their experience? We would really appreciate it 🙂
Best regards

I also consider internet and TV as additional costs. They are things everyone has and that incur monthly charges. For me alone, they are almost 90 euros/month.Then I also include all insurance costs. And also vehicle expenses to be able to commute from the house to work. Plus costs for groceries, since I prepare them in the kitchen and eat them in the dining area. That doesn’t make sense. Additional house costs are HOUSE costs. The house is not responsible for you wanting internet. But property taxes, electricity, and water are necessary. Only these costs (and similar ones) should be counted.

Break down all additional costs once to really be able to show whether I can afford the monthly payment...Or not. I always recommend the rule of thumb:
Old base rent + monthly savings - $100 more for additional costs = maximum affordable monthly payment.
