Hello everyone, I am currently planning a furniture assembly using the IKEA Brimnes hinges and would like to get a clearer idea of their quality before purchasing. Specifically, I am interested in how durable and stable the hinges are in everyday use, whether they are easy to adjust, and if there are any known weak points. I have already read that some IKEA fittings can have issues with frequent use or heavy loads. Does anyone have practical experience with the BRIMNES hinges, especially regarding material quality, workmanship, and longevity? I would also like to know if alternative fittings are worth considering or if the BRIMNES hinges are truly solid for the price.

Price-performance aside, hinges are wear partsThat's true, but it shouldn't be forgotten that the Brimnes hinges are specifically optimized for IKEA furniture. They fit the design perfectly and allow for easy installation. So far, they have been completely sufficient and functional for my needs.
In my view, the BRIMNES hinges are a solid entry-level option from IKEA. I use them on a shelving unit that is not opened very often. They perform their function reliably in that case.
However, for a frequently used piece of furniture with regular opening and closing, I would consider a better hinge solution. Adjustability and material durability become more important in such cases.
Overall: The quality is acceptable for simple furniture but less suitable for heavy use.

Regarding the quality of the IKEA BRIMNES hinges, I can summarize the following:
- They are standardized flat hinges and comply with common product standards for furniture fittings.
- The materials are mostly steel with corrosion-resistant coatings, while plastic parts are limited to functional elements and are non-load-bearing.
- The manufacturing is precise enough for their intended use, with an assembly accuracy typically required for IKEA furniture.
Recommendation: For those needing greater durability or using large cabinet doors, it is worth considering hinges with multi-point fastening and possibly damping systems.
For normal use in residential settings, the BRIMNES hinges are functional and cost-effective. I am not aware of any verified quality defects.

If installed correctly and the furniture is not overloaded, there should be hardly any issues. In my opinion, they are perfectly adequate for residential use.
