Hello,

I am interested in knowing how much the scaffolding cost for your projects.
For the scaffolding of our single-family house with exterior dimensions of 11x9 meters (36x30 feet) and two Frisian gables on the sides, each with a 50cm (20 inches) projection, we are being charged 2,200 euros net. The rental period has not been discussed yet, but the cost has already been set at this amount. We live in a rural area.
I found very different prices online, but generally tend to be lower.

How is the size of scaffolding calculated?
Do you calculate by planks of one meter (3 feet) with 4 layers on the gables and 2 on the sides, then just do 4x9 + 2x11 and multiply that by 2?
That would be 116 sqm (1,248 sq ft), which seems very expensive per square meter.
Or do you calculate length x width x height?
That would be approximately 8x9 + 4.5x11, then multiplied by 2, which would be 243 sqm (2,615 sq ft).
That would be 9.05 euros per sqm (0.84 per sq ft).

If you have a platform plank of one meter (3 feet) with 4 levels on the gables and 2 on the sides, do you just calculate 4x9 + 2x11 and then multiply everything by 2?
That would come to 116 sqm (1,248 sq ft), which seems very expensive per square meter.
Or do you calculate length x width x height?
That would be about 8x9 for the gables + 4.5x11 for the sides, multiplied by 2, resulting in 243 sqm (2,615 sq ft).

In our quote (now 2 years old) officially through the shell builder, the scaffolding rental after completion of the shell was 100 euros net per additional week (11m x 8.25m (36x27 feet)).

That was a contingency item we didn’t use, as we had a scaffolder as an acquaintance.

We have currently paid 6.50€ per square meter for a total net area of 295 square meters (3174 square feet). This was for 4 weeks. Each additional week would have been charged separately.

A net price between 5 and 7 euros per square meter (approx. 0.46 to 0.64 USD per square foot) directly from the scaffolding contractor is currently common in NRW. Additional charges may apply for brackets (widening by 30 to 70 cm (12 to 28 inches)) if the distances to the wall are too large, or for net suspensions for the workers. Approval fees, such as for building permits/planning permission, may also be incurred. There are various other extras related to the scaffolding as well. Billing is usually based on the surface area of the wall. A basic rental period of 4 weeks is also standard, with an additional 5-7% of the scaffolding costs for each additional period. However, the requirements for scaffolding contractors have recently been tightened by the BG (professional association). This is now being implemented by more and more scaffolding contractors and will correspondingly increase the prices.
