Hello dear forum,
I moved into a new apartment a few weeks ago and have no knowledge about heating/hot water systems. Now my question is: how do I change that? The best way is to ask people who are experienced.
I have this unit in the bathroom. Can anyone make sense of it? I am mainly interested in its function, operation, and any potential risks or side effects to be aware of.

Thank you very much in advance.
Best regards,
The Clueless One.

Hello,
rough guess: the upper box is the hot water tank. The lower one is a gas-powered radiator for the bathroom. My brother has something like this in his older apartment. However, there should also be radiators like the lower box in the other rooms.
Best regards,
Andreas

A rough guess: the upper unit is the domestic hot water heater Correct. It’s a gas instantaneous water heater. Try searching for Junkers Hydropower. You should be able to find a detailed model number somewhere on the device for more information.

The lower one is a gas-powered radiator Google can help here as well. Search for Haller Meurer gas stove – you’ll see that it’s an old gas radiator. If you look closely, you should find a model number on or inside the unit, which you can use to find a manual.
Hello,
ah, that already helps a bit, thanks. This is the only radiator of this type; the others look like this:

I’m not dissatisfied, it’s just that this is the first gas-heated apartment I’ve lived in, and I want to gather some information. As I mentioned, also about potential risks to be aware of, since you do hear things from time to time.

That is the only radiator of that shape; the others look like this Wow, I think that one could already be considered an antique.
But it will do what it’s supposed to do, which is to heat. How effective it is, is another question...
