ᐅ How are the Ikea BRIMNES furniture pieces attached to the wall?

SARBOHello everyone,
I recently purchased several Brimnes furniture pieces from Ikea and am currently assembling them and securely fixing them to the wall. I noticed that while the instructions provide basic guidance, the exact working of the wall mounting and how it ensures stability are not explained in much detail.
Specifically, I am interested in:
- What mechanism or parts are used for the wall mounting?
- How exactly is the furniture connected to the wall, for example using brackets, anchors, or special fasteners?
- Are there any special considerations during installation, for instance related to the furniture construction or material properties?
- Which types of walls are generally suitable or not suitable?
I want to avoid the furniture not being stable enough or coming loose during everyday use, so a more detailed explanation would be very helpful.
Thanks in advance for your answers!

- Which mechanism or parts are used for wall mounting? With the BRIMNES furniture, a simple wall bracket is usually used, which is fixed to the wall with screws and wall anchors. The furniture itself has corresponding holes or slots on the back where this bracket is hooked in or screwed on.

- How exactly is the piece of furniture connected to the wall, e.g., with brackets, anchors, or special mounts? It is mostly a metal bracket that is attached to the wall, and the furniture is then placed onto it—often there is an additional safety hook that you secure as well.
It is important to use the correct wall anchors for the specific wall type (concrete, drywall, etc.) and to make sure the screws are tight. I did it the same way at my place, and it feels very sturdy.
If the furniture is very tall, it is advisable to install more than one wall mounting point (two or three locations) for better stability.

I would like to add that Ikea generally supplies so-called "anti-tip safety devices" with BRIMNES furniture, which consist of metal brackets and an included steel cable or rod. These devices not only prevent the furniture from tipping over but also create a secure connection to the wall.
The installation is generally done as follows:
- The brackets are mounted to the wall using anchors and screws. Attention must be paid to the wall type—for example, fastening into concrete or brick walls is significantly more stable than into lightweight or drywall constructions.
- The furniture is equipped on the back with the corresponding fixture (usually a metal mount or tab).
- The furniture mount is connected to the wall bracket by hooking in or screwing together.
- Finally, the anti-tip device is tensioned or fixed, for example, with a cable or an additional screw.
The IKEA assembly instructions usually describe these steps briefly, but for maximum safety and stability, the correct installation of anchors and screws is crucial.
One more tip: especially for lightweight walls, you may need to use larger or special anchors to securely support the weight.
In summary, the wall mounting of BRIMNES furniture is a combination of screw-mounted metal brackets, wall anchors, furniture mounts, and possibly additional safety cables or hooks.

You really must not skimp on the right wall anchors, otherwise you won’t get a secure wall mounting.
I think the anti-tip safety devices are great—they give you real peace of mind, especially with children in the house. I’ve secured all my BRIMNES cabinets with them and feel confident that nothing can tip over.
So: definitely install the supplied brackets, screws, and anchors carefully according to the instructions and check exactly which anchors are suitable for your wall type.
The wall itself is of course an important factor—if it’s too soft, I would generally advise against heavy contents or suggest looking for additional fixing solutions.
I’m happy that my furniture is now rock solid!
