Hello everyone,

I am planning to purchase individual replacement parts for my Ikea Pax wardrobe, as a few hinges and a drawer slide have broken. I am especially interested in how the process for ordering Pax replacement parts from Ikea works.

- Is it necessary to visit an Ikea store in person, or is there an option to order replacement parts online?
- Is there a specific part number or ID that allows you to request parts precisely?
- How is the availability of certain replacement parts, particularly for older models?
- And how do the costs of replacement parts compare to buying new complete module components?

If anyone here has experience with ordering Ikea Pax replacement parts, I would appreciate any tips on the best way to proceed. Thanks in advance!

How would you go about correctly identifying these parts?

I would strongly recommend documenting the exact names and types of the components and perhaps making a quick call to Ikea customer service. They usually have access to technical drawings or spare parts lists.

Sometimes Ikea also sends you a spare parts box that includes several possible components – although this is not free of charge, of course. Clear communication beforehand helps to avoid unnecessary costs and waiting times.

One more thing: The soft closing hinges are quite standardized, so you should be able to find compatible spare parts from third-party manufacturers if Ikea no longer stocks the part.

Be sure to distinguish between soft close hinges for doors and possibly other types for drawers, as this is important to avoid ordering the wrong parts.

In the Ikea store, you can theoretically take a photo of the defective parts on your smartphone and show it at the service desk.

Very good tip! If you have to drive 25 km (15.5 miles), you should take the opportunity to come prepared with everything you need. I also recommend putting on a smile before your visit – staff are often more willing to help when the mood is right.

By the way: When I last bought replacement parts for Pax, the process went very smoothly, and the price was reasonable. Sometimes it’s even fun to save a beloved old piece of furniture with some small repairs – a bit like DIY with a Swedish twist!

So, don’t hesitate to order replacement parts, the parts management is quite customer-friendly – as long as you’re prepared.
